drive planner

You will need at least 120 hours of logged driving experience (with a supervising driver) before you can take the probationary licence test. Although 120 hours might seem like a lot, it really isn’t. Getting 120 hours of practice isn’t a big deal, a little more than an hour a week over two years will get you there easily.

If you obtained your leaner permit before 1 July 2007, or you will be 21 or older when you sit for your probationary licence test, the 120 hours is not a requirement, but it is highly recommended.

Use our 120 hour planner to work out how many practice hours you’ll need each week so that you are ready to take the probationary licence test. The more realistic you are about your weekly hours, the more likely you are to reach your goal.

Fill in the quick form below and hit ‘calculate’ to find out how many hours you’ll need to drive and when to book your probationary licence test.
